The Sant Roc Festa Major kicks off today in Malgrat de Mar with a ten-day programme and an enhancement of the Local Police, who will use drones to monitor the large events.
The Sant Roc Festa Major began this Friday in Malgrat de Mar with a programme of events that will last for ten days. The Town Hall has implemented an enhanced police operation to ensure safety at the most crowded events.
The operation, led by the Local Police of Malgrat de Mar, will have the support of the Mossos d'Esquadra during the two days of Barrakes. The reinforcement will be deployed at the two correfocs, the giants parade, the cycling race and the Miner de Ferro race, the vintage motorcycle gathering, the fireworks, Malgrat de Bar, and the Barrakes.
Surveillance will be intensified especially in areas where a higher concentration of people is expected. To this end, the Local Police will use drones that allow for covering large areas with fewer officers and providing a broader and better perspective.
The operation aims to provide a quick and coordinated response to any incidents and contribute to the smooth running of the Festa Major in a safe environment. Police presence will also be maintained at other events in the programme, although with less intensity.
Residents and visitors attending the most crowded events, such as the Barrakes or correfocs, must follow the agents' instructions and respect the planned mobility restrictions.
