The number 36,809, sold at administration number 1 in Aranda de Duero, has won the second prize in this Saturday's National Lottery draw, worth 120,000 euros.
Luck has smiled again on Aranda de Duero. The second prize of the National Lottery on Saturday, corresponding to the number 36,809, has been fully awarded in this Burgos locality, leaving a total of 120,000 euros distributed among the fortunate buyers. Administration number 1, the oldest in the riverside capital, was responsible for selling all the series of the winning number, as confirmed by the State Lotteries and Betting.
A historic and family-run administration
The administration, located on the central Botica street 6, between the church of Santa María and the plaza del Trigo, is a family business that was started by the grandmother of the current owner at the end of the Civil War. Since then, it has passed through the hands of her father and brother, and since 2024 it has been run by Mercedes de Ribera along with her husband. “It is a huge satisfaction, although I haven't won myself,” joked the administrator in statements to Ical.
The number 36,809 is a regular at the establishment, and this time it was sold in full, that is, all ten series. “Almost all of it has stayed in Aranda. It has been widely distributed, among our subscribers and in the bar, which sells it every week,” explained Mercedes. Each winning ticket will receive 12,000 euros, a considerable sum for the lucky winners.
A summer of luck in Aranda
This is not the first time this administration has spread joy in the summer. On August 16, 2025, also a summer Saturday, it sold a second prize in the National Lottery, although on that occasion it was not sold in its entirety. “The excitement of giving out prizes is the goal,” said the administrator, who continues to lead a business that is already part of the urban landscape of Aranda.
The first prize of the draw, worth 600,000 euros, went to the number 28,920, which was sold in full at Administration number 23 in Terrassa, Barcelona. The refunds corresponded to the numbers 0, 1, and 7.
For the residents of Aranda de Duero, this prize represents a small economic relief in the middle of August, and a sign that luck sometimes sneaks into the quietest corners. Those who have a ticket for 36,809 can now start planning how to spend the 12,000 euros.
