Two hooded men broke into a villa in the Vila Montcada neighbourhood of Lleida and fled with jewellery and valuables. The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the incident and searching for the thieves, who were assisted by a third man.
The Mossos d'Esquadra are searching for two thieves who raided a home in Lleida last Friday, July 24. The individuals, who were hooded, entered a villa in the Vila Montcada neighbourhood and took jewellery and other valuables. According to initial investigations, they had the help of a third man who was waiting in a car to facilitate their escape.
The robbery occurred in broad daylight, around half past twelve in the afternoon, on Architect Celles Street. It was the homeowner who alerted the police after the house alarm was triggered by the presence of the intruders. When the officers arrived at the scene, the criminals had already escaped after ransacking the entire house.
The Catalan police have opened an investigation to identify and arrest those responsible, who are accused of a crime of burglary with force. So far, no arrests have been made, and the economic value of the stolen goods is unknown.
The Mossos remind that thieves do not take holidays and take advantage of homeowners' absences to act. Therefore, they recommend taking extra precautions, especially during the summer. Properly locking doors and windows, activating the alarm, and not hiding keys in obvious places are some of the basic measures.
For those who will be away for long periods, they advise creating a sense of occupancy: asking a neighbour to collect mail, avoiding posting plans on social media, and using timers to automatically turn on lights.
