The municipal services for the repair and exchange of objects, La Trocalleria and Dimecres Manetes, will resume activities in the first week of September after the August break.

Residents of Rubí will once again be able to enjoy the municipal services for the reuse and repair of objects starting in September. Both La Trocalleria and Dimecres Manetes, which take a break during August, will resume their usual operations in the first week of September.

Dimecres Manetes, a free advisory service providing tools to repair small electrical and electronic devices, will return on Wednesday, 2nd September. Users can bring a broken appliance or device and receive help from a professional to try to give it a second life, without needing technical knowledge or their own tools.

To participate in Dimecres Manetes, it is necessary to book an appointment in advance through the website rubi.cat/dimecresmanetes or by calling the Green Phone at 900 130 130. The service will maintain its usual hours: the first Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 1 pm, and the remaining Wednesdays from 5 pm to 8 pm.

On the other hand, La Trocalleria, the object exchange space, will resume activities on Saturday, 5th September at the Plaça de la Nova Estació, also during its usual hours. This service allows for the extended life of many products and prevents them from becoming waste prematurely. The available objects constantly vary depending on the exchanges that take place.

The public can check the available items through the virtual showcase of La Trocalleria at rubi.deixalleria.cat/latrocalleria, and decide whether to bring their own objects for exchange. All information regarding operations, hours, and locations can be found at rubi.cat/latrocalleria.

Both services were launched in 2016 with the aim of promoting repair and reuse as alternatives to the consumption of new products and the generation of waste. In addition to direct exchanges at La Trocalleria, the service is supplied with objects deposited in the reuse area of mobile recycling points and the Cova Solera recycling centre.

The municipal resources contribute to promoting a more responsible consumption model, where objects can have a second chance before becoming waste. Reuse and repair not only have a positive impact on the environment but also help save resources and money.

Individuals with usable objects they no longer need can also donate them to the reuse area of mobile recycling points or the Cova Solera recycling centre, so they can be incorporated into the reuse circuit of La Trocalleria. They can also use the Reuse Space at the Green Point of the Municipal Market, where objects that can still be useful can be left and collected, or opt for second-hand sales in specialised shops or digital platforms.

With the resumption of these services, Rubí reinforces its commitment to waste reduction and the circular economy, providing practical tools for citizens to extend the life of objects and promote more sustainable consumption.
