The Granollers City Council has unanimously approved the local festivities for 2027, which will be on 7 May (Ascension) and 27 August (Festa Major). Initial approval has also been given to a modification of the staff structure creating 12 new positions.
The Granollers City Council meeting held on 21 July 2026 unanimously approved the calendar of local festivities for the year 2027. The holidays will be on Friday, 7 May, for Ascension, and Friday, 27 August, coinciding with the city's Festa Major.
The decision, which received no votes against it, establishes two non-working days in the municipality that will be added to the official calendar of the Generalitat. The proposal was presented by the governing team and ratified without debate by all municipal groups.
In the same session, the council initially approved modification 2/2026 of the staff structure, a file that includes the creation of 12 new positions and the elimination of 5, as well as several internal promotions and changes in working hours.
The new positions created are: a medium-level technician for occupational risk prevention, one legal position, four administrative assistants, two technical engineers, a medium-level technician in administrative management, a specialist technician in building maintenance, a trades officer, and an educator. These new hires aim to strengthen key areas of the City Council.
Additionally, six positions have been created through internal promotion: four administrative, one architect, and one C1 corporal. In the case of the four administrative positions, the positions held by the promoted individuals will be eliminated, while the architect and corporal positions will not be eliminated, resulting in a net increase of two staff members.
On the other hand, five positions have been eliminated: carpenter officer, maintenance officer, bricklayer officer, locksmith officer, and teacher. The working hours of some existing teacher positions will also be modified.
The staff modification agreement will be subject to public information for 15 days, through an announcement in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Barcelona and in the Official Journal of the Generalitat. If no objections are raised during this period, the agreement will be elevated to definitive status without the need for a new vote.
In another item on the agenda, the council executed a court ruling that obliges the City Council to refund CaixaBank €278.62 plus €87.63 in late interest, corresponding to a settlement of the Tax on the Increase in Value of Urban Land (IIVTNU) declared null. The ruling, issued on 30 April 2026 by the Administrative Litigation Section of the Barcelona Court of First Instance, upheld the bank's appeal after the council conceded. The vote on this point reflected division: PSC voted in favour, Primàries against, and ERC, Junts, PP, and VOX abstained.
The council also reviewed the minutes of the ordinary session on 30 June and the agreements of the Local Government Board from 30 June, 7 and 14 July, as well as the mayoral resolutions, in the usual control and oversight points.
With these decisions, the Granollers City Council is advancing in the planning for the upcoming year and in the reorganisation of its human resources to improve service delivery to the public. Residents can now consult the 2027 work calendar and prepare for the festive bridges.
