The Esparreguera Town Council suspends the charging for the blue zone from this Saturday, 1st August, until the 31st. The parking meters will be disconnected throughout the month, as has been the tradition for the last eleven years.
From this Saturday, 1st August, until the 31st, parking in any of the blue zone spaces in Esparreguera will be free. The Town Council is temporarily suspending this service during August, coinciding with a lower influx of vehicles and a significant reduction in the demand for rotation parking. The service will resume normally on Tuesday, 1st September.
This is the eleventh consecutive edition in which the council applies this measure, which involves the total disconnection of parking meters throughout the month. The aim is to adapt the operation of the service to the decrease in activity in the municipality during the summer period.
Currently, Esparreguera has around 250 blue zone spaces distributed across various points in the municipality: the avenues of Francesc Macià and Francesc Marimon, Santa Anna square, the streets of Sant Joan and Sant Miquel, Santa Eulàlia square, Mestre Tomàs Cabeza street, Mil·lenari way, and the streets of Montserrat, Bruc, Ferran Puig, and Gorgonçana.
During the rest of the year, the blue zone service operates from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm, and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and public holidays parking is free. Additionally, each vehicle is entitled to half an hour of free parking daily, which can be activated by entering the license plate into the parking meter or through the mobile app elparking.
With this measure, drivers visiting Esparreguera during August will not have to pay for parking in any of these zones, a measure that has become a summer tradition in the municipality. Residents and visitors will be able to take care of their errands or shopping without worrying about parking time.
The Town Council reminds that during August, when many establishments close for holidays, the demand for rotation parking decreases significantly. Therefore, it is deemed appropriate to suspend the service and offer this facility to the public.
For those using the mobile app to manage payments, it should be noted that during this period it will not be necessary. However, the app will remain operational for other municipalities where the service is active.
The measure is applied automatically, with no need for any procedure on the part of users. The parking meters will be disconnected and will not issue tickets throughout the month of August.
With this initiative, Esparreguera joins other municipalities in the region that also implement similar measures during the summer to facilitate parking for their citizens and visitors.
The Mobility Councillor has highlighted that this is a decision made every year and is well received among residents, as it represents economic savings and greater convenience during the central weeks of summer.
The Town Council recommends that drivers respect the blue zone spaces and use the designated areas correctly, even when they are free, to ensure orderly mobility in the municipality.
