The report from the Barcelona Provincial Council reveals that 71.9% of tourists are international, repeat visits exceed 60%, and the average stay reaches 6.1 nights, with a total expenditure of 944 euros per person.

The latest report on the Tourist Profile, prepared by the Barcelona Provincial Council, positions Sitges as one of the highest-rated holiday destinations in Catalonia. According to data for 2025, the municipality of Garraf receives an average score of 8.9 out of 10, the best in recent years.

International tourism and loyalty: the keys to success

The study, based on surveys of visitors, confirms that 71.9% of tourists arriving in Sitges come from abroad. The main markets are the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United States, precisely the priority countries identified by the Tourism department.

One of the most relevant indicators is the average stay of 6.1 nights, slightly higher than the 5.7 nights recorded in 2024. Additionally, nearly 60% of tourists return to the municipality, demonstrating high loyalty and satisfaction.

The Tourism Councillor, Dani Martínez Berdala, highlighted that "these figures reinforce the tourism strategy promoted by the department, aimed at attracting higher quality visitors who generate greater economic impact."

Expenditure and visitor profile

The average total expenditure for the trip stands at 944 euros per person, a figure lower than the previous year but still above the average for the Barcelona area. International tourists continue to spend more than national visitors in all categories analyzed.

Regarding the profile, the typical tourist in Sitges is aged between 45 and 64 years, is male, travels as a couple, has a university education, and 80% are actively employed. The most common activities during the stay include enjoying the beaches, cultural experiences, shopping, and gastronomy.

The destination's rating reflects that the most highly rated aspects are the character and friendliness of the locals, with 90% of visitors stating they feel very welcomed. Personal safety and the beaches also receive high scores, while parking availability is the area identified as needing the most improvement.

Tourism intelligence for a sustainable model

The report is part of the new Tourism Intelligence System of Sitges, which will be presented in the coming months. This tool, developed with EU Next Generation funds, integrates various sources of information to move towards a more sustainable and balanced tourism model.

For the residents of Sitges and the Garraf region, this data confirms that the municipality is committed to quality tourism that generates positive economic impact without overcrowding. Longer stays and visitor loyalty contribute to a stable local economy, and the high ratings for hospitality and safety enhance the town's reputation.

Councillor Martínez Berdala added that "we will continue to work on diversifying tourism products and improving weaknesses, such as parking, to offer an even better experience."

Visitors arriving this summer will be able to enjoy a destination that, according to the data, combines beaches, culture, and gastronomy with guaranteed high satisfaction. The complete report can be consulted on the Barcelona Provincial Council's portal.
