Barberà del Vallès has added a new officer to the Local Police, which now has 47 active personnel. The force is thus approaching the target of 50 officers set in the Municipal Action Plan.
The Local Police of Barberà del Vallès has incorporated a new officer into its ranks, now having 47 active personnel among commanders and officers. This addition follows three that occurred last January, resulting from the selection process for six positions announced during the last quarter of 2025.
The new officer is one of the three candidates who had to complete the training course at the police academy. Once the training was finished, he was the only one from this group to pass the course and has now joined the service. The other three selected, who were already serving as police officers in other forces, were integrated immediately at the beginning of the year.
The Councillor for Local Police and Community Safety, Daniel González Cabrera, highlighted that this new addition represents another step towards achieving the objectives set in the Municipal Action Plan (PAM). “We are fulfilling the commitment we made in the PAM to strengthen our Local Police,” he stated, adding that “with this new addition and the upcoming ones, we are making solid progress in equipping Barberà with a well-sized and prepared force.”
The growth strategy does not stop here. During 2026, the City Council plans to initiate a new selection process to incorporate four more officers. The aim is to reach fifty actual personnel, a target that the PAM considers necessary to ensure optimal security service in the municipality.

The selection process of 2025 was designed to fill six positions, with a dual pathway: for active police officers from other forces and for individuals without prior experience who had to go through the academy. Councillor González Cabrera has insisted that security is one of the priorities of the municipal government and that these additions are a demonstration of the commitment made to the citizens. “The force must be sized to respond efficiently to security challenges,” he emphasized.
The new officers are already active and have begun to serve, integrating into the various units of the Local Police. Their arrival coincides with the deployment of the new season of special measures, such as traffic controls and monitoring of public spaces.
With this new addition, Barberà del Vallès takes a step forward in strengthening its security, an aspect that residents particularly value. The challenge now is to complete the force up to 50 officers and maintain the quality level of service, a task that the City Council has already planned for the coming months.
