The water park in Joan Fuster square, in the Pla d'en Coll neighbourhood, was inaugurated this Wednesday to great public reception. It features 16 games and will operate in the morning and afternoon.
Montcada i Reixac's first water park opened its doors this Wednesday, July 29, in Joan Fuster square, in the Pla d'en Coll neighbourhood, with a massive turnout of locals eager to experience the new attraction. The facility, comprising 16 water games, will operate from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
The president of the Territorial Area and Mobility, Andreu Iruela, highlighted that the park responds to a community demand: “The park addresses a request expressed by our neighbours, who wanted a facility similar to those in surrounding municipalities.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Bartolo Egea, who led the municipal delegation at the inauguration, announced that the council is working on creating more parks of this type in other neighbourhoods of the municipality.
The space includes an area with nozzles that release water in micro-droplets with a mist effect, which expands the cooling zone. For its use, it is recommended to wear appropriate footwear, and pets are not allowed.
The project has included new water and electricity connections, sewer system integration, and the planting of trees to provide shade. These elements will allow the park to become a new climate refuge for the municipality, especially useful during the summer months.
Additionally, the entire pavement that was raised and damaged by tree roots has been replaced, along with the reorganisation of resting and access areas, and the installation of new urban furniture.
The water games cover an area of 575 square metres. The total investment has been €486,000, fully funded by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB).
The opening of this park marks a step forward in leisure and cooling options for the residents of Montcada i Reixac, who previously did not have a similar facility in the municipality. With plans for new water parks in other neighbourhoods, the City Council aims to expand recreational spaces and combat heat.
The operating hours will remain throughout the summer, and the council recommends users to come with sun protection and to respect the usage rules to ensure the facilities remain in good condition.
