The Vallès Occidental County Council has received the works for the adaptation of the Ripoll river path, which includes a charging point for electric bicycles in Ripollet.
The Ripoll river path in Ripollet now has a charging point for electric bicycles, installed in the parking lot of the Municipal Sports Complex. This initiative is part of the regional project “The river, weaving threads of life,” which received approval from the Vallès Occidental County Council this past Friday.
The project, with a total budget of €1,532,000, has allowed for the adaptation of about 40 kilometres of path that connects the natural parks of Sant Llorenç del Munt and l'Obac and Collserola, linking with the Besòs river. The works have included improvements to the surface, drainage, stabilization of sensitive areas, and the installation of safety elements, as well as the regulation of access for motor vehicles.
In the Ripollet section, the work has focused on providing the path with a continuous width and installing the charging point for electric bicycles, which is now operational. This facility adds to the five charging points installed in Sant Llorenç Savall, Castellar del Vallès, Sabadell, Barberà del Vallès, and Montcada i Reixac, all of which are in service.
The project, promoted by the County Council in collaboration with the six municipalities through which the river flows, aims to strengthen the Ripoll as an axis of ecological, heritage, tourist, and sustainable mobility connection. According to the County Council, these charging points aim to promote the daily use of electric bicycles and encourage cycle tourism along the river axis.
The initiative is part of the Sustainable Tourism Plans in Destination of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU. With this reception, the main actions of the regional project are completed.
Although the path is already passable, the County Council has called for caution and reminds that it is necessary to respect the access and use restrictions of the natural environment that remain in force, both for the prevention of African Swine Fever and the risk of forest fires. It is recommended to consult the updated official information and follow the existing signage.
For the residents of Ripollet, the new charging point at the Municipal Sports Complex represents an incentive for sustainable mobility, facilitating daily journeys by electric bicycle and connecting with the network of paths in Vallès Occidental.
