The Nexes programme, driven by the Santa Perpètua City Council and the Barcelona Provincial Council, has supported 33 individuals in its 2024 and 2025 editions, with an average rating of 9.1 out of 10.
A total of 33 elderly individuals have been supported by the Nexes programme in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda during the years 2024 and 2025. The initiative, promoted by the local council and the Barcelona Provincial Council, aims to prevent and reduce unwanted loneliness among the senior population of the municipality.
The data was presented on July 17 at a meeting of the organisers held in the locality itself. Of the 46 referrals received, 33 individuals accepted to participate in the personalised support process, which represents an acceptance rate of over 70%.
The majority profile of the beneficiaries corresponds to women (81.6%) aged between 65 and 84 years. Additionally, 65.7% of the individuals supported live alone, a factor that increases the risk of social isolation.
Nexes not only offers individual support but has also organised nine group meetings throughout the period, with a total of 95 attendances. These sessions are designed to encourage conversation, cognitive stimulation, relationship building, and participation in community life.
The programme's evaluation by participants yields an average score of 9.1 out of 10. Users particularly highlight the personalised support, the emotional assistance received, and the spaces for relationship and exchange created during the project's development.
According to municipal sources, the Santa Perpètua City Council plans to continue the programme during the 2026-2028 period. The new phase will include the development of a participatory diagnosis on loneliness and social isolation among the elderly in the municipality, strengthening work with the community network, and consolidating the local action circuit to prevent these situations.
The Nexes programme is part of the social welfare policies of the local council, which prioritise attention to the most vulnerable groups. Unwanted loneliness is a growing problem in ageing societies, and Santa Perpètua is committed to early and personalised intervention.
For residents of the municipality who know an elderly person in a situation of loneliness, the City Council reminds that they can contact the basic social services to inform about the programme or request a referral. The initiative will remain active and is expected to expand its reach in the coming years.
