The City Council of Mollet del Vallès has joined the initiative by the Generalitat that creates a network of shops and facilities where minors can make calls if needed, without relying on their own mobile phone.
The City Council of Mollet del Vallès has adhered to the 'Fes un truc' campaign, promoted by the Department of Business and Labour of the Generalitat, so that children and adolescents in the municipality can contact their families from trusted shops and facilities without needing to carry a mobile phone.
The initiative, which has already been presented to more than 400 commercial establishments in the city, aims to create a network of participating points that will be identified with a visible badge. Minors will be able to enter any of them and request to make a call when they need to.
More than 400 shops invited to join the network, which will also include municipal facilities. The public will be able to consult the participating points through an interactive online map that will be updated with new additions.
The Councillor for Childhood, Estela Mas Cagide, explained that the goal is for "the children and adolescents of Mollet to gain autonomy with the reassurance that, if needed, they will find a network of shops and facilities willing to help them." She added that the campaign "reinforces trust, community, and the shared responsibility of society as a whole."
The measure responds to the concerns of many families about delaying the age of the first mobile phone, offering a safe alternative for emergencies or unforeseen events. Interested shops can contact the campaign at fesuntruc@molletvalles.cat.
The City Council expects the network to be operational in the coming weeks, once the memberships have been formalised. The participating points will display the campaign badge so that minors can easily recognise them.
