The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce has concluded the second edition of the Dual Vocational Training Tutor Support Programme, which has facilitated the participation of 168 companies in the 2025-2026 academic year. The initiative, driven by the Chamber of Spain, aims to eliminate barriers for SMEs.
The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce has officially closed the second edition of the Tutor Support Programme for Dual Vocational Training for Micro and Small Enterprises, an initiative that has allowed 168 companies to participate in Vocational Training during the 2025-2026 academic year. The programme, driven by the Chamber of Spain, has the collaboration of the CaixaBank Dualiza Foundation and the Bertelsmann Foundation, and is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
The closing event, held in Vallès Oriental, was attended by the president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in this region, Pep Garcia, who highlighted the value of collaboration between institutions to bring Vocational Training closer to the business fabric. During the day, the balance of the two editions of the programme was presented, which has supported a total of 310 companies.
The programme is based on the figure of the shared tutor, a professional who acts as a link between companies, educational centres, and students. This model allows micro and small enterprises, which represent 99.8% of the business fabric, to participate in Dual Vocational Training with more guarantees, without the lack of resources becoming a barrier.
According to the data presented, in the 2025-2026 academic year, 168 companies, 26 educational centres, and 25 training cycles participated across the participating chambers. The programme has already consolidated a support model that contributes to making Dual Vocational Training more accessible to small businesses, reaffirming the commitment of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce to improving talent qualification and business competitiveness.
The day also included a round table with the participation of shared tutors from the industrial and personal image sectors, a company tutor, a centre tutor, and a student. They all shared their experiences and agreed on the added value of the shared tutor figure to strengthen coordination among all involved parties and ensure a quality training experience.
For companies in the province of Barcelona, this programme represents an opportunity to access Dual Vocational Training without the need to have internal resources dedicated to managing apprentices. The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce acts as an intermediary, taking on the coordination with educational centres and monitoring the students, which reduces the administrative burden and facilitates the incorporation of young talent into SMEs.
The programme, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness in two editions, consolidates as a key tool to increase the participation of SMEs in Vocational Training.
