The Abrera Town Council has launched the T-Social, a free urban bus card aimed at those over 60 years old and people with disabilities of 33% or more. Applications can now be submitted at the OAC or online.
This August, the Abrera Town Council has activated the new T-Social card, a free transport title for the urban bus service aimed at the groups that need the most support in their daily travels. The measure, promoted by the Department of Social Action and Citizenship Rights and the Elderly, aims to enhance the mobility of people over 60 and those with functional diversity who can prove a disability of 33% or more.
The card includes a particular feature for those recognised as needing to be accompanied: in these cases, the title will include the mention "+ companion", allowing a second person to travel with the holder at no additional cost. The goal, according to the council, is for the service, which is already sustainable and adapted, to be even more accessible to those who use it the most and to continue ensuring connections between all neighbourhoods and the urban centre.
The Councillor for Social Action and Citizenship Rights and the Elderly, Giulia Mirto, has highlighted that this initiative promotes free urban bus travel for those over 60 and the diverse abilities community, and has reminded that the service already allows connections between the neighbourhoods and the centre. "We continue to make Abrera a municipality that supports sustainable and quality mobility for everyone," she stated.
Interested individuals can apply in two ways. The first is in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC), presenting the specific form. The office hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays also from 16:30 to 19:00, with the exception of August, when only Wednesday afternoons are attended during that time.
The second option is online, through the Abrera Town Council's Electronic Headquarters, where the application process and form are already available. Additionally, starting in September, an information and support point for online management will be set up at the Casal de la Gente Mayor, located at rambla del Torrentet, 8.
In all cases, it will be necessary to provide the ID and documentation proving the beneficiary's status, either by age or through the official disability certification issued by the Generalitat of Catalonia. Once the application is formalised, the council will inform each person when they can collect the title at the OAC.
With this initiative, the Abrera Town Council continues to work towards promoting more accessible, inclusive, and equitable mobility, facilitating the travel of those who need it most and contributing to improving their autonomy and quality of life.
