Barcelona is preparing to host a new landmark event in the world of video games. The SAGA Barcelona Game Fest, which will be held from October 9 to 11 at Fira Barcelona Montjuïc, aims to become the leading fair in the sector in Southern Europe. The event, which arises from the merger of three major previous festivals, expects to gather around 20,000 visitors in its first edition.
The organization presented the details of the fair on Thursday, which will feature more than 200 exhibiting companies and over 2,400 accredited professionals. The number of attendees represents an increase compared to the 17,000 achieved by the BCN Game Fest in 2025, consolidating the city's commitment to becoming a hub for the video game industry.
The SAGA Barcelona Game Fest will place special emphasis on internationalization. The participation of 16 countries and four foreign delegations in person is confirmed. Additionally, the fair will promote connections between independent developers and industry agents through a networking platform designed to facilitate contact between local talent and international investors.
The Commissioner for Social Use of Catalan at the Barcelona City Council, Marta Salicrú, highlighted the opportunity the fair presents to promote the use of Catalan in the digital realm. "We must normalise the presence of Catalan also in international fairs," Salicrú stated during the presentation, adding that "the video game sector is strategic because it targets, among others, the young population, and because it involves linguistic uses in the digital sphere."
The poster for the new fair has been created by illustrator Conrad Roset, known for his work as creative director of the acclaimed video games 'GRIS' and 'Neva' from Nomada Studio, with which he won a Game Award in 2024. Roset was present at the presentation event, where he explained his connection to the world of video games and his satisfaction at being chosen to design the fair's image.
The festival will offer more than 80 activities, including conferences, workshops, and round tables with national and international experts. There will also be esports competitions, a showcase of emerging projects, an educational space about the history of video games, and a Play Zone with over 400 gaming stations. Attendees will have access to a market with specialized products and will be able to meet emerging creators in the sector.
The organization has highlighted that the event will occupy a space of 14,000 square meters at the Montjuïc fairgrounds. This area will host various thematic zones, including one dedicated to promoting Catalan. In fact, visitors will find more than 50 video games available in Catalan, predominantly Catalan-language activities, simultaneous translation services, and signage of the languages available in each video game.
The project is supported by the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, and the Ministry of Culture. Companies such as Devolver Digital, Gameloft Barcelona, and Larian Studios are also participating as sponsors, reinforcing the professional and global profile of the proposal. The collaboration of international entities and actors in the sector completes a lineup that promises to place Barcelona on the map of major video game fairs.
For video game enthusiasts, the SAGA Barcelona Game Fest presents a unique opportunity to try out new releases, attend talks with developers, and participate in tournaments. Tickets are already available through the official fair website, with prices ranging from 15 to 30 euros depending on the day and type of access.
