The Blood and Tissue Bank will set up a mobile unit in the car park of Can Robert park on Wednesday, August 12, to facilitate donations. The campaign aims to reinforce reserves, which require 1,000 donations daily.
The Blood and Tissue Bank has organised a new blood donation day in Sitges. It will take place on Wednesday, August 12, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 9 pm, in the car park of Can Robert park, between Víctor Balaguer street and Camí dels Capellans avenue.
All healthy individuals aged between 18 and 70 who weigh more than 50 kilos can donate. Fasting is not required, but an official identification document must be presented. At least three months must pass between donations: men can donate up to four times a year and women three.
Those who wish to participate can approach the bus directly, although it is also possible to book an appointment through the Blood and Tissue Bank's website by filling out a specific form for this campaign. The organisation reminds that donations can be made even if cholesterol levels are high or if regular medications are taken.
In the previous campaign, held on August 4, 12 people donated blood and 6 donated plasma, three of whom were first-time donors. Thanks to these donations, 42 patients were able to benefit from transfusions.
The bank needs 1,000 donations daily to maintain reserves, as platelets expire after five days. This event in Sitges is an opportunity for residents to help meet that demand.
The mobile unit will be located in an easily accessible spot within the park, allowing donors to combine their visit with a walk in the area. The schedule is divided into two shifts to accommodate different routines.
For more information or to book an appointment, interested individuals can consult the Blood and Tissue Bank's website. It is recommended to arrive early to avoid waiting, especially during the central hours of the morning and early afternoon.
