The Generalitat has opened a new call for grants for young self-employed individuals aged between 18 and 29, with aid of €17,094. The application deadline is September 22.

The Department of Business and Labour of the Generalitat of Catalonia has launched a new edition of grants to promote youth self-employment, with an initial budget of €9.6 million that could be increased to €14,375,000. The grant, co-financed by 40% by the European Social Fund Plus, is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 29 who start an activity as self-employed and maintain it for at least 18 months.

The amount of the aid is €17,094, equivalent to the annual interprofessional minimum wage, and is granted as a non-repayable grant. The aim is to ensure a minimum income during the start-up of the professional project, thus facilitating the consolidation of the business.

In Cerdanyola del Vallès, the municipal Economic Promotion Service has organised an information session about this call, scheduled for the first week of September. Interested individuals can obtain more details by writing to the email address emprenedoria@cerdanyola.cat.

One of the highlights of this edition is the allocation of €370,000 from the initial budget for young people with a tax residence in small villages, that is, municipalities with fewer than 500 inhabitants. This allocation could be increased to €550,000 when the full budget is executed. With this measure, the Generalitat aims to combat rural depopulation and offer job opportunities in areas with limited employment options.

The requirements to access the grant include being aged between 18 and 29 on the date of the start of the activity, being registered in the Youth Guarantee programme as a 'beneficiary registered' the day before the start of the activity, and having started the activity between September 23, 2025, and the date of application submission. Additionally, it is necessary to maintain the activity for 18 uninterrupted months, without being employed during that period, and to have the tax residence and, where applicable, the workplace in Catalonia.

During the 18 months, beneficiaries must participate in training or advisory actions determined by the call. The application submission deadline is September 22 at 14:00 hours, and it can be processed through the link provided on the Generalitat's website.

To resolve any questions about the procedures during August, interested parties can contact the Department of Labour via the email address iniciativesbarcelona.treball@gencat.cat or by calling the phone number 93 622 04 00.

This aid is part of the FSE+ programme of the Generalitat, which aims to reduce youth unemployment and promote entrepreneurship as a means of labour insertion. In the previous edition, according to data from the Department, more than 500 young people benefited across Catalonia.
