Sitges finalises the final stretch of the new Montserrat Almirall Music School building

The new centre, located in Parc del Rocar, will open its doors during the first term of the 2026-2027 academic year, once the furniture is installed and the final details are completed.

The new building of the Montserrat Almirall Municipal Music School (EMMMA) in Sitges is entering its final phase. The construction of the facility, situated in Parc del Rocar, is progressing with the aim of opening the centre during the first term of the 2026-2027 academic year, once the final adjustments and the installation of new furniture are completed.

The Education Councillor, David Martínez Lluís, has emphasised that the opening of the new building is an absolute priority for the local government and a source of great excitement shared by families, the teaching staff, and the municipal administration. “We thank the entire educational community in advance for their understanding and cooperation during this final phase of the works and the move, to make the new Music School a reality,” the councillor stated.

The construction of the new building has a budget of €1,236,546.92. Once operational, the centre will accommodate 280 students, a hundred more than currently, which will allow for an expansion of the musical educational offerings in the municipality.

The facility, which is being built next to the Espai Jove, will leverage synergies with this space, such as the shared use of rehearsal rooms. The building consists of two floors: on the ground floor, there are five classrooms (two of which are large) and an office, with the same configuration repeated on the first floor. Solar panels are planned for installation on the roof, and once the works are completed, native trees will be planted in the surrounding area.

The new school will replace the current facilities, which have become too small for the existing demand. With this expansion, Sitges reinforces its commitment to musical education, responding to the needs of families and contributing to the cultural dynamism of the municipality.

The planned schedule places the opening within the first term of the school year, although the exact date has not yet been specified. The Sitges City Council will provide timely updates on the final deadlines, as well as the moving process and the organisation of teaching activities in the new facilities.
