The UE Castelldefels Foundation and the ISTEA Association presented the Adapted and Inclusive Football School this Tuesday at the Municipal Camp dels Canyars, which will start activities in September with over twenty children enrolled.
Castelldefels takes a step forward in sports inclusion with the creation of an adapted football school for children and young people with specific needs. The initiative, driven by the Unió Esportiva Castelldefels Foundation and the ISTEA Association, was presented this Tuesday, July 29, at the Municipal Camp dels Canyars.
The event was attended by the mayor of Castelldefels, Manu Reyes; the Sports councillor, Pakita Cruz; and representatives from various political groups in the council. Also present were the director of ISTEA, Pilar García, and members of the management team of the UE Castelldefels Foundation.
The project aims to ensure that children and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other specific needs can enjoy sports in an adapted, inclusive, and respectful environment. The ISTEA Association, which will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary next year, brings its experience in supporting families after diagnosis.
As the start of activities approaches, scheduled for September, the organisers have already contacted interested families and have over twenty children enrolled. Before starting, individual work will be carried out with each participant, which will include the development of sensory profiles and the assessment of specific needs to define groups and supports.
The planning also includes preparation and anticipation of the sessions so that children arrive at the field with a clear and adapted structure, facilitating their participation and well-being during sports practice. With this initiative, the UE Castelldefels Foundation and ISTEA aim to consolidate an inclusive sports model that guarantees equal opportunities and promotes the participation of all children in the city's sports life.
The Adapted and Inclusive Football School is presented as a real tool for learning, socialisation, and autonomy for participants. Interested families can still request information through the channels of the promoting entities.
