Sitges: the works on the Pont dels Ocells complete their second phase in August

ADIF is finalising the second phase of repairs on the Pont dels Ocells in Sitges, with a final night operation from 10 to 11 August. The works will resume in October for the final stretch.

The repair works on the Pont dels Ocells in Sitges are progressing according to the planned schedule. ADIF, responsible for the work, has completed almost the entire second phase, focused on waterproofing the upper part of the structure, with only one final operation scheduled for the night of 10 to 11 August.

Thanks to the good pace of the work, the traffic closure under the bridge that was in place between midnight and five in the morning has been lifted. This restriction will only remain in effect on the night of 10 to 11 August, when the last work of this phase will be carried out. Subsequently, in October, the works will resume and restrictions on passage for vehicles and pedestrians will be re-established.

Meanwhile, the modification of the urban bus route will remain in place until the works are completed, expected in the autumn. As an alternative to the affected stops, two new marked stops have been established on the road of les Costes and another on the Camí dels Capellans, in front of the health centre.

The battery of containers on carrer de Sant Honorat will also remain relocated to carrer de Pompeu Fabra until the end of the works on the bridge. Regarding parking, it is recommended to use the free public parking on carrer de la Devesa, although it is expected that the machinery occupying the parking on carrer de Sant Honorat, near the bridge, will be cleared by 14 August. Thus, from the second half of August until the works resume in October, this green zone parking for residents of Sitges will be available again.

The works by ADIF consist of waterproofing the base of the railway tracks, one of the main deficiencies detected at this point. This intervention responds to the requests that the Sitges Town Council conveyed to ADIF through a letter sent on 6 August and in the meeting held with service officials on 1 October 2025, to address the most deficient points of the railway line as it passes through the municipality.

With the completion of this phase, the night traffic closure under the bridge disappears until October, which is a relief for drivers and pedestrians using this route during the summer. However, the alterations to the urban bus and the location of the containers will remain until the final conclusion of the works, expected in the autumn.

Residents and visitors of Sitges should be attentive to the upcoming restrictions that will be announced when the works resume in October. Meanwhile, the green zone parking will be operational for residents again from 14 August, and the alternative bus stops will continue to be marked.
