Renfe has suspended the operation of the R3 line this Saturday due to an incident in the railway traffic regulation system. Passengers can use the R4 between L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Fabra i Puig, and there is an alternative road service.
The operation of the R3 line of Rodalies has been interrupted this Saturday, July 25, due to a malfunction in the railway traffic regulation system, as reported by Renfe. The incident occurred around 10:00 hours and affects the entire line, which connects L'Hospitalet de Llobregat with Puigcerdà and La Tor de Querol.
As an alternative, users can use the R4 line between L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Fabra i Puig or Montcada Bifurcació. Additionally, a bus service has been established between Fabra i Puig and Puigcerdà/La Tor de Querol to cover the affected section. Renfe recommends checking the service status before travelling and allowing more travel time.
This new malfunction adds to the limitations that the R3 was already facing due to ongoing works on the line. Before the incident, trains were only operating between La Garriga and Puigcerdà, meaning the section between L'Hospitalet and La Garriga was already out of service due to improvement works.
The situation exacerbates the chaos that the Catalan railway network has been experiencing since the beginning of the week, when a sinkhole in the underground works of the R2 in Vallbona forced the closure of the R2, R2 Nord, and R11 lines between Montcada i Reixac and Sant Andreu. Repair work is ongoing, and there is still no date for the normalisation of service.
For residents of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, who use the R3 as a connection to Vallès Oriental and Cerdanya, the suspension represents an additional setback in a summer already marked by interruptions. Renfe has not specified when operations might be restored, but has assured that technicians are working to resolve the malfunction as soon as possible.
The company reminds that tickets purchased for the R3 will be valid on alternative services and that refunds can be requested in case of cancellation. It is recommended to follow the official Rodalies accounts on social media for real-time updates.
