The council is calling on individuals who have works by the Montcada artist to lend them for the exhibition that will open on 27 October 2027, coinciding with the centenary of his birth.

The Montcada i Reixac Town Council has initiated a search for works by Joan Capella in private hands to incorporate them into the artist's centenary exhibition, which is set to open on 27 October 2027. This initiative is part of the Year of Capella, a commemoration declared by the municipal council on 23 July, aimed at highlighting the artistic, cultural, and human legacy of the Montcada painter.

The aim of the call is twofold: on one hand, to locate and exhibit unpublished works by Joan Capella, as a large part of the municipal collection has already been seen in previous exhibitions; on the other, to involve as many people as possible who had some connection with the artist. The council wants the exhibition to be a collective celebration of his figure.

Owners of oils, tempera paintings, and drawings by Capella interested in participating should send a photograph of the work, specifying the date of creation and the dimensions of the painting, to the email address cultura@montcada.org. Among the proposals received, a representative selection will be exhibited at the Municipal Auditorium during the autumn of 2027.

Individuals who have questions about how to submit their information can contact the Department of Culture and Cultural Heritage. The exhibition will become one of the central actions of the Year of Capella, which will include other activities to promote the artist's work, as reported by the council.

Joan Capella, born in Montcada i Reixac in 1927, was a painter known for his figurative work and his connection to the territory. His death in 2008 left a legacy that the municipality wants to highlight on the occasion of the centenary. The exhibition aims to bring together works that have never been displayed to the public, offering a new perspective on his career.

The deadline for sending photographs has not been specified, but the department recommends doing so as soon as possible to allow time for selection. The exhibition, which will open on the exact day of the centenary, aims to be an open tribute to citizen participation.
